Dishwashers buying guide

Shop dishwashers in Iraq at Al Bab Al Aaly and choose the machine that saves you time and effort while giving you clean, sparkling dishes after every cycle. A dishwasher is no longer a luxury: it usually uses less water than washing by hand, cleans with hot water that removes grease and food residue more effectively, and makes life easier for large families and for hosting guests.

Types of dishwashers

  • Freestanding dishwashers: the most common choice, placed anywhere near a water supply and drain, usually 60 cm wide.
  • Built-in dishwashers: installed inside kitchen cabinets and covered with a panel that matches your kitchen design – ideal when fitting a new kitchen.
  • Slimline 45 cm dishwashers: a practical option for smaller kitchens and smaller households.
  • Compact countertop dishwashers: suitable for apartments and people living alone.

How to choose the right dishwasher

  • Capacity (place settings): 60 cm models typically hold 12 to 14 place settings, which suits medium and large Iraqi families, while slimline models hold around 9 to 10.
  • Energy and water efficiency: a higher energy rating means lower electricity and water use over the years.
  • Noise level: measured in decibels – the lower the number, the quieter the machine, which matters in open-plan kitchens.
  • Programmes: look for an intensive programme for heavily soiled pots, a quick wash, an eco programme, a half-load option and good drying performance.
  • Hard water: water in many parts of Iraq is hard, so use dedicated dishwasher salt to protect the machine from limescale and keep glasses shiny.
  • Racks: adjustable racks and a top cutlery tray make it easier to fit large pots and trays.

FAQ

What dishwasher capacity is right for my family?

For a family of four or more, a 60 cm dishwasher holding 12 to 14 place settings is the best fit. For couples, small households or narrow kitchens, a 45 cm slimline model with around 9 to 10 place settings is usually enough.

Does a dishwasher use more water and electricity than washing by hand?

Usually not. Modern dishwashers typically use less water per cycle than hand washing the same number of dishes. For the best savings, run full loads and use the eco programme whenever possible.

Why do I need dishwasher salt?

Dishwasher salt regenerates the machine's built-in water softener, which matters because water in many parts of Iraq is hard. Without it, limescale builds up on dishes and internal parts and washing performance drops over time.

What is the difference between freestanding and built-in dishwashers?

A freestanding dishwasher has its own finished casing and can be placed or moved easily. A built-in model is installed inside kitchen cabinets for a seamless look, but it needs a cabinet space prepared to the right dimensions.

Do dishwashers from Al Bab Al Aaly come with a warranty, and how do delivery and payment work?

Yes. Every product at Al Bab Al Aaly is genuine and comes with a 1-year warranty. We deliver to all 18 Iraqi governorates, and you can pay cash on delivery after checking your order.
