Description

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 G614JV-N3129 is a gaming laptop from the well-known ROG line, combining an Intel Core i7-13650HX, an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060, 16GB of DDR5 and a 512GB SSD with a 16-inch 165Hz screen for smooth gaming and strong performance in demanding software.

Design

The ROG Strix G16 (2023) uses a dark grey chassis with signature ROG details, a 4-zone RGB backlit keyboard and edge lighting. It weighs about 2.5 kg, and its vents are laid out to feed air efficiently to both the CPU and GPU.

Display and performance

The 16-inch FHD+ (1920×1200) panel runs at 165Hz with 100% sRGB and G-Sync, so motion looks smooth without tearing. The i7-13650HX has 14 cores (6 performance + 8 efficient) up to 4.9GHz, and the RTX 4060 with 8GB supports DLSS 3 and ray tracing. DDR5 memory sits in two SO-DIMM slots and can be upgraded to 32GB.

Connectivity

You get Thunderbolt 4 and USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 with display output and charging, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports, HDMI 2.1 and RJ45 Ethernet, plus triple-band Wi-Fi 6E. The battery is 90Wh and the webcam is 720p.

Technologies in plain words

  • MUX Switch: sends the image from the NVIDIA GPU straight to the display, raising frame rates in games.
  • G-Sync: matches the screen refresh to the GPU for tear-free motion.
  • Thunderbolt 4: a very fast port that drives monitors and external drives over one cable.
