Description

The Samsung T9 Portable SSD 2TB is the fastest drive in Samsung's T series of portable SSDs, made for professionals who work with huge files every day. The Samsung T9 uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 interface at 20Gbps to reach read speeds of up to 2,000MB/s and writes of up to 1,950MB/s, roughly twice the speed of earlier generations when connected to a compatible port.

Design and durability

The T9 has a body covered in a soft rubber-like material that adds grip and protects the drive from knocks, and it survives drops of up to 3 meters. It measures 88 x 60 x 14 mm and weighs about 122 g, so it stays light and easy to carry with a laptop or camera.

Performance

Its high speed lets you move 4K and 8K video projects and RAW photo libraries in a short time and edit files directly from the drive. Dynamic Thermal Guard controls temperature to keep performance steady even during long, continuous transfers of large files.

Connectivity and compatibility

The drive has a USB Type-C port and comes with USB-C to USB-C and USB-C to USB-A cables. It works with Windows, macOS and Android devices, cameras and game consoles. On a standard USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) port it runs at the lower speed of that port.

Technologies in plain words

  • USB 3.2 Gen 2x2: a 20Gbps interface that doubles the bandwidth of USB 3.2 Gen 2.
  • AES 256-bit: hardware encryption that protects your files with a password set in Samsung Magician.
  • Dynamic Thermal Guard: smart heat management that prevents performance drops.
