The TEAMGROUP T-FORCE GE PRO 4TB SSD is one of the fastest drives available for modern desktop PCs. It uses a PCIe 5.0 x4 interface with the NVMe 2.0 protocol to reach sequential reads of up to 14,000MB/s and writes of up to 11,800MB/s. The 4TB capacity is enough for a huge game library and heavy video projects without extra drives.

Design

The drive uses the standard M.2 2280 form factor and carries TEAMGROUP's patented ultra-thin graphene heat sink. The graphene layer adds almost no thickness, so it fits under motherboard M.2 heatsinks and in tight slots while helping keep temperatures stable during long transfers.

Performance

The GE PRO runs on the InnoGrit IG5666 controller, built on a 12nm, multi-core, power-efficient design. A DRAM cache and SLC caching keep speeds high when copying large files. The NAND is 3D TLC, endurance is rated at up to 2,400TBW, and internal temperature sensors adjust performance automatically if the drive gets too hot.

Compatibility

For full speed you need an M.2 slot with PCIe 5.0 support, such as AMD X870 / B850 / X670 boards, Intel Z890 boards and some Z790 boards. It also works in PCIe 4.0 slots at Gen4 speeds.

Does the T-FORCE GE PRO work on a PCIe 4.0-only motherboard?

Yes, it is backward compatible with PCIe 4.0 slots, but it will run at Gen4 speeds (around 7,000MB/s at most for that interface). To get the full 14,000MB/s you need an M.2 slot with PCIe 5.0 support.

Does this SSD need an extra cooler?
