Description

The WD Purple Pro 10TB WD101PURP is designed for large professional surveillance systems where a standard surveillance drive is not enough. The key difference is a workload rating of up to 550TB/year, more than three times a regular WD Purple, together with 7200 RPM and support for up to 32 AI analytics streams alongside 64 HD cameras. It suits multi-bay NVRs in malls, hospitals, factories and car parks, where recording, analytics and playback all run at the same time.

Design and durability

It uses the 3.5-inch form factor at 0.75 kg, with shock ratings of 70G operating and 250G non-operating, tarnish-resistant components and 600,000 load/unload cycles. Operating temperature is 0 to 65°C.

Performance

With 7200 RPM and a 256MB cache, the data sheet lists up to 265MB/s buffer-to-host and 256MB/s sustained transfer, so searching the archive and pulling clips is much faster. MTBF is 2 million hours and non-recoverable read errors are fewer than 1 in 10^15 bits. It draws 9W read/write and 8W idle, with 34 dBA idle and 38 dBA seek acoustics.
